So I went on the shadow day yesterday as part of a second interview. It was kind of fun the two I went with. However, I learned how far different the job is then what the job description said online. First part is, they are no located in Chicago like posted what they really meant is Chicago area, which as an hour away from my house. Also, this hour ride has taken from an hour and a half to 2 hours to travel. Both ways. So I am in my car for about 4 hours a day in stop and go traffic. The job starts at 8am so today I had to get up by 5am to leave by 6am and don't get off till about 6:30 or 7pm usually the later. So I got home between 8:30 and 9 last night. I had about a 10 minute lunch break for a hot dog. Other then that I was standing in a home depot trying to sell Direct TV subscriptions, so I was not a happy one when I got home. I crashed by 11 to get up by 5. If I want to get through traffic better I'll probably have to leave around 5:30 to make good time and avoid traffic but then I may be an hour and a half early so either way I'm fucked over. I've spent about 60 in gas for my two interviews yesterday and today. So $30 a day at 5 days a week. I'd spend most of my check on gas alone. This job does pay pretty well at least $400 after taxes and chances to make more and promotion in quick time. Health care is also included. Would anyone put up with selling stuff for good money, long travel times and costs. Moving is not cheap either for a single apartment running around the $800 to $1200 range a month. Other option is buying a new car with better gas mileage and less problems. Any input?
