I remember things my mum said:

"I used to be scared I'd die at 45 because my mother died at that age."

"I wonder when you girls grow up and can pay your own way if you'd still come with us like this on holidays?"

"Yes I feel like I fai-"

I often feel like what I inherited from my parents are my dad's lack of initiative and all my mum's fears. Maybe it's her fears that are talking when I wonder sometimes if I never get married will my parents feel bad as though they've failed as parents? It really is right now the most compelling reason for me to (more actively) want marriage or even just a relationship that is going somewhere. So my mother can say, "Yes, that's her boyfriend.." and even then she might never do! She'd just say, "Yes, that's her friend.." She just can't bring herself to admit that romantic dimension lol. It might have contributed to my awkwardness in relationships but it's so cute.
