It's HAILING!  Little bitty things, but still...maybe it's sleet?  How do you tell the difference?  Either way there are hard things falling out of the sky and making a crapload of noise when they hit the groun/deck/siding...

After reading the definitions on Wikipedia, I lean more toward it having been sleet...
