OMFG. I totally got looked at and dismissed today while in Hot Topic. Little bitch behind the register took one look at me and rolled her eyes! Gee, I'm sorry, I didn't know I had to have wacked out hair and spikes on in order to shop here honey.

Stupid bitch. Lost a sale because of that, and I'm not likely to walk in there again.

morons, bitching

I was looking primarily for weird shoe laces for Maddie, since her's self destructed yesterday, but was likely to find something else like a t-shirt for her or Nate...so in all probability she lost a $50-$60 sale.

I saw that you wrote in- that's awesome. We go in there all the time, usually with me in my sweats, baby in stroller, etc, because we love their baby stuff. We never have problems, but that maybe because my husband has probably either taught them or their friends.

I noticed this once or twice while in there. It might have to do with how I dress too...never thought of that. I just figured they were stupid bitches. :)

Yeah, I realize that I'M self conscious walking in there, but still a little professionalism would be appreciated since I'M HERE TO BUY STUFF STUPID!

I was totally mom today, jeans, black sneakers and black t-shirt. Pushing a stroller with Nate in it. I'm not sure if I could GET any more suburban...! :)

Yeah, screw that. You sound like a 1/2 goth with all your black ;)

I think that is what gets me...sure it's just a $50 sale they lost, but they do that ten times in ten stores in one day and ... you get the picture. Stupidity, it is the season. Grr.

I'd bet that it's partially the season issue, IF she was actually dismissing me (I realize she mightn't have been but still) I'm betting it was in part because of all of the unusual (for them) customers that come in over the holidays.

1/2 goth's about right...I just can't get any farther than wearing black. I can't do my hair funny, can't wear black nail polish...! :) ...and I smile too much...I just can't toe the line. Glarkware used to have a shirt - something about: Goth chapter xxx, Individuality through conformity... :)

For some reason, I never get a *look* when I go in there. Of course, that might be because I know the people that work in the local one. I think I've been to clubs with some of them....

:) Wonder why that is?

Oh, and I've totally got black nail polish on right now.

Yeah, you're quite a bit more evil than I am, and you actually LOOK the part on occasion. I never do. Oh well. :) Although I'd hope that the people in yours mightn't dismiss a mom who looks like a mom, since they know you...!

Besides, it's a professionalism thing to me. I'm here to buy stuff, you're here to sell it to me. You are NOT the gatekeeper of style, you sell stuff that let's people think they are cool. You make me uncomfortable for ANY reason, I'm leaving, you lost the sale, and I won't be quiet about it like I would have in high school, because I'm done with that shit, and (here's the important one) I'm on LiveJournal. It's exceedingly easy for me to bitch about your store to ALL my friends (and some people I don't even know) now.

I'm still ticked, obviously... :)

Hey, I'm not EVIL. Disregard this icon nasagrl December 21 2007, 15:14:04 UTC
It's amusing to me, because the fact of the matter is that you know that "tough girl" attitude is totally a front because she doesn't know how to relate to anyone who isn't in her group. It's so sad these days that even the freaks don't have any sort of social skills. Back in the day most of us "could" tone it down if we had to.

You know that if you write to Hot Topic, or even email them, they'll make it better. The company in general has awesome customer service.

Exactly! It's okay (marginally) to not know that EVERYONE has issues, EVERYONE has something they are self conscious about etc when you're in HS (and I think she was), but once you're out, it's time to grow up and realize that everyone is in the same boat, regardless of dress, social status and anything else you can think of.

:) and Yes I did write to them through the web page yesterday, after I posted... :) I haven't got a response yet, but I don't really expect anything other than an apology for my shopping experience, blah, blah, blah... :)
