Okay, I’ve been slacking with reviews the past few weeks because of internet difficulties/ university projects and all that piling up so i’m gonna just do a quick happy recap of the past three eps just because my OCDness will bug me if I’m missing at least something about the two episodes before last nights. :P
7x06 “Slash Fiction”
Possibly one of my favourite episodes this season. It was awesome seeing the Sam and Dean doppelgangers in the bank and then ranting about how the Winchesters are screwed up and how Leviathan!Sam ate his brother for being crazy with Leviathan!Dean agreeing so easily with that! And then they went full on psycho in the diner and yes - "Pulp Fiction" guys, I was hopping up and down. Also adored how the Leviathan!brothers hit all the old spots the guys were in season 1, it was really nostalgic and I kinda wanted them to end up in St. Louis for the big showdown just to parallel Skin.
Also, Impala goes bye bye? I could cry. Seriously but that led to my favourite part; Dean singing. Kinda obvious why it was my favourite but seriously, it was awesomeness wrapped in awesome and drowned in a good dollop of AWESOME! Sam’s WTF reaction just added even more awesome to that mix. It was ... awesome!
I wasn’t really fussed on the ending though. It just seemed so quick and rushed and I didn’t like it after the big build-up to the “I killed Amy!” revelation but on the whole, fantastic episode!
7x07 “The Mentalists”
Wasn’t completely fussed on this episode tbh so there’s not much to say really. There were good points in it to be fair; Dean about to kill the super perky guy in the cafe for trying to read him, Sam being pissed at his bent spoon and busting in on the lamaze class. The psychics were all pretty cool though, they each made me laugh apart from the psychic woman’s daughter that was “love interest of the week” but I’ll get to her in a second.
Dean and Sam in the cafe at the end and Sam being all “must not laugh, must not laugh-... aww hell.” I like that so much, Dean’s attempt to make good with his brother was great... but then it all kinda went pear-shaped.
Mainly because I was quite annoyed at Dean being a jerk and calling Sam a bitch (not even for a bitch/jerk moment) for being pissed about the Amy thing. That was uncalled for. Of course Sam was gonna be annoyed. And Sam was the one apologising in the end? Uncool. However, Dean mentioning his trust issues since Castiel and him being mostly guilty about letting Sam down was well done but whatever. At least the Amy thing is out of the way.
Also, there was no Impala which will forever seem WRONG to me! Wrong wrong WRONG!! Plus, psychic girl and Dean’s flirting? I’m happy with Dean flirting some more and getting over Lisa but the girl was so one-dimensional I was just falling over with boredom at that.
So, alright episode but it won’t make my list of favourites.
7x08 “Season 7, Time for a Wedding!”
Even though the cake explosion opening was the best thing ever, I didn’t like this episode that much. I mean, I liked Becky at the beginning of season 5 because she was made of so much hilarity but the more she was used, the more annoyed I became at her character. In this episode, she was almost irredeemable (i say almost because i felt bad for her when the old classmate made fun of her). She was way out of line by more or less drugging Sam. Becky was really bordering on being like the woman from "Misery" here and she got off way too easily for my taste. So I really don’t want to see her in the future.
Sam being all roofied was funny at parts but uncomfortable other parts. I mean, his little wiggle thing when he found Becky’s diary was adorable but the wiping the red ink off her nose thing? Was...getting...creepy. And Dean? Dude, if it were me in that situation, I wouldn’t have let Sam out of my sight for a SECOND if that suddenly happened, not go out and find another partner for the case. It was kinda odd but whatever. I can forgive Dean because he was in a sweater vest. I had to pause and stare for a very long time. Adorable!! Also, Becky was supposed to ask Dean for Sam’s hand in marriage - even more adorable!!
DJ Qualls was actually ok in this episode, not fantastic but ok. Crossroads Demon was so very charismatic and plucky and I really liked him and Crowley popping up?? Icing on the cake! I LOVE that you Mark Sheppard insists on not being credited to keep his appearances a surprise!
Dean and Sam together were quite obviously the best part of this episode, the way they danced around each other was like running into your ex at a coffee shop or something and seeing they’d moved on. It was so funny but the ending, it broke something in me. I know Sam admitted he did need Dean but at the same time, Dean trying to find himself? As long as he still stays by Sam’s side and NO ONE LEAVES THE OTHER ON A PIER, then I’m probably going to be okay with it.
Things I wanted to happen in this ep that didn’t happen;
+ Dean shouting “I object!”
+ There to be NO ACTUAL WEDDING!!
+ Sam to actually go Hell crazy this episode and then Becky would realise she was out of her depth and get Dean there to help.
+ Orr... maybe the love potion making Sam go super crazy in love like, “I will kill for love” crazy! Which would lead to a Dean vs Sam fight for the lolz
+ Billy Idol's "White Wedding" playing - come on guys! I was predicting this one since forever!
My least favourite episode of the season but not the worst episode, plus "sacred annual pilgrimage to Vegas"? I need fics for this right now!
Anyway, looking forward to next episode! The promo is really freaky so I'm looking forward to some good ol fashioned scare factor in my SPN :)
