Irony of ironies, today I recieved an email from one university: UNC at Chapel Hill. I'll save you the specifics of the email. The basic gist outlined that they had heard of my outstanding first year at Charlotte, and would be "pleased if I were to look into Chapel Hill when considering my future as a nurse." Oh ho, how I love the twists and turns my life take. True, the hill was one of the endeavors I was looking into for nursing school, but only as a necessary back-up. The fact that they are actually pettioning to me makes me cackle with glee, especially considering I was turned down by them one year ago. Oh- how the tables always seem to turn.
This encounter, however, did get me thinking about those dear, old nursing applications. (For the record, these applications are neither old nor dear, but I feel the need to treat them with respect. They are quite important documents, you see.) Right now, my application folder on my desk-top includes Charlotte, Wilmington, Western, and Chapel Hill. The first two are my main goals; the second two there for insurance purposes. Of course, this is all counting on my future grade in Anatomy and Physiology. Currently, I'm trying to decide if that class or these applications scare me more.
Today was a lethargic one; similar to all of my days actually. I sat around, ate some lunch. Eventually, Gilmore Girls came on, then it was out for a jog in the rain. And in all honesty, jogging in a light drizzle is so much more enjoyable than the 90 degree weather I've been subjecting myself too. Slightly damp and invigorated, I headed to starbucks, and marveled at the fact that my favorite sanctuary has turned into a hot-spot place for the disenchanted youth of concord. I don't know if I felt old or just incredibly intelligent sitting beside girls in baggy jeans, tight black tank-tops, and kitty ears. Bleh. I did get some writing done though, inspired by said youth. Hooray.
"This is pathetic- my love life feels like a britney spears song."
"You mean shallow and lacking a strong down beat?"
"Exactly."
