This post is for Mike, who reminded me that people actually do read this, when I actually remember to post.
Things have been pretty okay. I mean, they could be better. My car is dead, again, and this time it's going to be 'spensive. I might be able to get away with fixing it for a bit cheaper, but I dunno. However, I'm not facing nearly the crisis I was last time this happened, because pretty much immediately upon discovering this happy bit of news, the incandescent Julie (not to be confused with Julia, my partner in comics crime) loaned me her old car for as long as I need it. The windows are so dirty that driving at night is positively hair-raising. I tried and failed twice today to visit the car wash (was out of order both times), so I had to use the squeegees at the gas station. It worked to a point, but the insides are smudgy as hell. Will try the proper by-hand car wash tomorrow after work. All in all, I prefer my Skylark. I just hope I can resurrect her.
In other "Brittany's expensive toys refuse to work" news, both Elphaba and Gonturan decided that they simply weren't going to turn on. (That's my iPod and my PDA respectively, in case you forgot.) I discovered Elphie's malady actually quite a while ago, but didn't have time to take it in until a couple of weeks ago, when I remembered that the bookstore has an Apple Store location. They tried basically everything I did, then sent it off to Apple, who sent me a new one, which I picked up yesterday. I simply hadn't used Gonturan in a while, but I had a more recent copy of the master script for Song of Avalon on there than was on any of my other computers, and I hate having to unnecessarily duplicate work. And it refused to turn on. I didn't want to have to deal with Dell tech support, which is wretched, but luckily Google had some answers. (This is apparently a known and common problem.) All is happy, and I don't have to rewrite the end of my fight scene.
School is... going, I guess. I feel like the only one of my classes in which I'm doing remotely well is World Music. I don't do Spanish homework (at least, not on the days when she actually collects it), I never did turn in that Media Studies paper, and American Gods is proving even more overwhelming than I thought it would be. Basically, I just need to get my shit together, academically.
It helps that Gumball Rally is over. Several weeks of preparation, not to mention the actual event, occupied most of my time. We were one of twelve teams to actually finish, placing tenth overall. Yup, we did 35 attractions in 12 hours, 17 minutes. It was way fun, and next year will be more interesting, since more rides will be open (Monorail and Matterhorn are closed for extensive refurbs, and the Subs should be open by next year). Plus, bragging rights are important.
The one thing that does threaten my productivity is my latest toy,
The Order of the Stick Adventure Game. It's a card-based board game that is really freaking sweet. Though I do need to find a few others willing to kill a couple of hours in order to play, so perhaps it won't be too terribly bad. (I'm hoping I can get some of the guys in Blaisdell to try it out with me tomorrow night. It looks really fun, if a little complicated.)
Well, now that I have proven that rumors of my demise have been once again exaggerated, I'm off to bed. I have a morning shift at Jungle tomorrow, which means I'll have to fight lovely, lovely traffic. Bitches.
