Blargh. Job search has been tottering along for 2 months now. I have some leads, but nothing definite. The good thing is that I have (well, had) enough savings to stumble along for another little while after losing my job. I would not have been able to do that six months ago. I wish I had had a little more time to get my feet back under me, but that's how it goes.
The only problem is this friggen car payment, which has no grace period and no real recourse for me. I spoke to the finance company and they said they'd be willing to work with me IF I can give them a bit of a time frame... but I really can't at this point. I just hope I can go to them when the payment's due and say "Look, I have a job now, but I don't get paid for 2 weeks, so can you wait 2 weeks?"... My contract doesn't allow for that at all, but I'll just have to hope they'll stick to a verbal agreement. Otherwise, car gets repo'd, credit gets shot. I can rebuild it, of course, but it's just annoying.
And it's annoying that it's not even my rent I'm really worried about, but the damned car that I don't really need but am stuck with. Yet another poor decision on my part. It makes me dearly, dearly miss my T-bird. To have fought so hard not to have it totaled out last summer only to have the ex kill it a few months later is just a kick in the pants. Rargh. So now the payment, the insurance, and (on the rare occasion I use it) the gas are sapping my budget. I don't need the damned thing. I don't need it! But I also don't need a repo on my credit when I'm going to be looking for funding in a few years for med school.
I know it's not worth crying over spilled milk and all that, but it just seems like the bad decisions have just snowballed, and it feels like I'm never going to get out from under them. Fuckin' car. Fuckin' ex. Fuckin' job market. Jesus christ.
