The love hotel was actually a pretty nice place in and of itself. It wasn't one of the places that had weird theme rooms, unfortunately, but they were each very nicely furnished, with big bathtubs... ;P
Normally the whole thing is automated. You select an available room with a touchscreen computer in the lobby, you pay via a machine in the entryway of your room. It's all very private, with walkways and barriers to almost completely ensure you will be able to avoid being seen by other patrons of the hotel. However, you are watched at least when you go in, because we got a call shortly after we got into our room. Because we were three girls going in together, they had to check at least one person's ID. If we were hookers setting up shop, having our customers come in later, they'd have to kick us out, you see. If it had been just a guy and a girl, or even a guy with multiple girls, they would have let them through without a hitch. I guess in Japan they wouldn't figure we were just a trio of lesbians... XD;;
Anyway. We were there for karaoke, so after checking out the room, we got started right away. We mostly picked songs everybody knew so we could all sing and be silly together. We even did the macarena! Brought back memories... XDDD (I do still prefer the "let's take turns so we all get a chance to show off" route for karaoke, but this way is good every once in a while too.) And that was that. I would like to go to one of the crazier rooms at some point, but I don't know if any of my visitors would want to. T_T
