The Return of the Cough

Yep, it's back. Started out as a small 'cough cough', then graduated to a 'hack hack' and then got a PhD in "HACK, COUGH UP A LUNG!". I finally ran to the doctor and he was a befuddled as I was and we tried a round of Tessalon pearls (which are really neat little gel caps of cough syrup) and Claritin. My body laughed at the pearls and seemed to respond to the allergy medicine.

Round Two: Prednisone (again...I'm still taking the Pred Forte for my eye, and yes, it's getting better!), Claritin and Tussionex cough syrup, which I've had before. It's that nice gold syrup that tastes good, and has codeine in it. I usually don't react strongly to the codeine, but this morning I was a bit woozy throughout the morning. Whee! The cough seems to be responding to one of the three and he wants me to take some Prevacid to counter any allergic reactions. My question is what in the heck I could be allergic to in the middle of winter? Maybe I'm just allergic to Colorado or...well, it's spring/summer in Australia... maybe something there?

On the eye disease front, as mentioned earlier, I'm getting better. Of course, it's been two weeks since I last dilated my eye and it's still not back to normal. My doc thinks that's great, as it means the pupil is still relaxed, but I was taking those drops twice a day! I even had to rock the eye patch for a while, as it was too bright at work, with all those flourescent lights overhead. It didn't help that last week my frames broke at work. I had to pay to get them fixed/sautered and that lasted less than 12 hours. Thank goodness for super glue? My new frames weren't cheap, but I once had an IRS refund. I swear, it was like blood in the water - she has money? Drain her dry!

Starting to move in fully with mom to help pay for dad's bills. Not fun, as I had to pretty much force her to throw away/donate clothes that we still had of my grandmother's. It's been almost 10 years but there's still some things she couldn't put away. Again, I hate being the harsh realist - I can't fit into them, neither can she, as my grandmother was petite and tiny in frame. Even as a teenager my shoulders were too broad for her jackets, so I'm way too broad now.

Other than that, it's been quiet, but even that is shattered by the kitten's yowling. Everytime we think it's safe, she seems to go into heat again. That, and she talks to herself almost constantly. We should have named her 'Hummer' instead of 'Tucker'.
