A Song Of Ice And Fire On HBO!

It's been a while since I've felt like sharing anything here, but this is just too exciting not to pass around.  HBO has optioned the rights to George R. R. Martin's A Song of Ice and Fire series, with the idea being that each book will be one season.

Check out the full article here.

Just the thought of this makes me as giddy as a schoolgirl.

Agreed. But if he can have the next three books done by 2011 like the article says, I'll be happy. Unlike certain other authors I could name... *cough*Jordan*cough*.

I think the Potter series is ending this year, but then no release date for the last book has been given, so who knows. I'm inclined to think they'll release it this spring though, to coincide with the new movie.

By contrast, the thought fills me with horror... usually, adaptations of things I like have proven... unfulfilling. On the other hand, GRRM is no babe in the woods, and is well-versed in the Hollywood mill, so... I will expect the worst, and hope for the best!

I'm willing to put my trust in HBO that they'll do the series justice. I've loved The Sopranos, Deadwood, and Rome, so if they can do as good with GRRM's books as they are with those series, I'll be happy.
