Back From The Beach

So it has been almost a month since I updated this thing.  Honestly there hasn't been much worth talking about until recently.

Kate and I joined a few friends and went to the Outer Banks  last week.  We stopped by her Aunt Jan's place in Virginia Beach on the way down and spent a night, then spent seven days at Banks, then stopped my brother's new place in Hampton for a night on the way back home.  Overall the trip was nice and relaxing, and I got to spend plenty of time just sitting around and doing nothing.  The only snag in the whole trip was hurricane Ernesto deciding to run up the coast and smack us with some rain and wind, but the majority of it passed to our West through North Carolina, and we didn't get hit too bad.  It just made for some icky weather on Thursday and Friday, though the worst of it hit during Thursday night while everyone was asleep.

While down at the beach I finally decided to go ahead and get my second tattoo.  For over three years now I had been wanting a Chinese dragon on my left shoulder, and one of Kate's coworkers pointed us at Hatteras Ink.  The owner of the shop does excellent work and he drew a custom design for me after I told him what I was looking for.  So I am now the proud owner of a dragon tattoo running across the top of my left shoulder from my shoulder blade down on to my chest.  It looks like I've got a pet crawling over my shoulder, complete with the appearance of its claws digging in to my skin.  Kate took some pictures so I'll have to get those posted sometime soon.  Maybe tonight if I can remember to do it.

Speaking of Kate, she's off in Connecticut this week for a meeting.  Then early next month she leaves for yet another meeting in Seattle.  This is apparently a pretty busy time of the year for the NRPA.

Last night was my first night of league bowling.  It's a "Fun Night", so all the players have handicaps figured in to their score (90% of the difference between their average and 220).  Technically the league started last week, but I was at the beach.  I didn't do nearly as well as I had hoped, but I've got 34 more weeks to improve.  I'll probably head over to the alley this weekend and get in some more practice before next week's game.  My goal by the end of the season is to be averaging around a 150 or better.  I've got some work to do on that...

And speaking of work, it's time to head for a meeting.  Fun, fun.
