Bebe #2 is 2 months old now. You'd think I'd be a pro at this. But I'm not. In fact, my priorities seem completely skewed. Today, instead of eating lunch during his midday nap I did laundry. I have a 2 month old. Which means I don't have a lot of time to myself, especially once my son and husband get home. Then it turns into a 3 ring circus. I also haven't had a full nights sleep in 2 months. You'd think sleeping and eating would be more important than laundry. Apparently not for me. In fact I even spent 5 precious minutes doing this...
I made my eldest son's bed and even lined up his stuffed animals. Which is pretty pointless considering all those neatly lined up toys will be thrown to the floor by bed time. Truth be told I'd probably have made my bed as well if is wasn't covered in the loads of laundry (I'd say at least 4) I'm trying to sort and fold. Laundry, it never ends. For every load I get folded and put away there are 2 more waiting for the machine. And don't even get me started on the dishes! I have a dishwasher and still the damn things breed like rabbits, but only the dirty ones.
So why did I do it. I love the feel of clean linens and haven't yet determined my son doesn't. (Who am I kidding, eh?) As for the stuffed animals, it was mostly to get them off the floor even if only for a little while. I'd hate for my obituary to read “tripped on an elephant and died.” And because for a couple of hours between now and when the boys get home I'll feel briefly like this little corner of my home isn't the big top after the lions have escaped.
I'd like to think my priorities aren't completely out of whack. I did manage a wii fit workout for the 2nd time this week. And its only Wednesday! It means the living room, which doubles as the family and play room got tidy for a little bit. I even have photographic proof that my living room floor isn't permanently a train yard!
Sure we still have student ghetto futons instead of grown up furniture, but that stuff is expensive and I have kids. I'll invest in a real set when its less likely to get destroyed.
