I'm watching Taiwanese Idol (Superstar Boulevard) all alone. Usually I can't be bothered because I miss too much of what's going on without Vincent to help me understand. But they're doing the initial auditions now, so it's a little more tolerable. But I hate the judges. I think everyone does. Their judgments are so off base. For example, they let people with sucky voices pass with flying colors, while people who obviously sing much better than those people can't get past the first step. I don't think they're basing it on looks, specifically, so I don't know what the deal is. But it's infuriating. I think they go by the "any publicity is good publicity" policy, and if they judge badly the people will get angry and talk about it and keep watching.
So far, it's working. But I don't think people respect it as a serious competition. I've watched a few episodes of the new American Idol season online, and the standard is unbelievably higher. Why? Because the US is bigger and there is a higher likelihood of finding talent? It doesn't seem like a legit excuse.
There was a terrible low-frequency noise/vibration coming from somewhere outside for about five minutes and it gave me a headache! KILL!!
And I think my DVD/CD drive is broken or on the way out. A few months ago, my dad sent me about 10-15 DVD-backups and I could only get three of them to work. I thought it was a problem with my dad's DVD writer. But now I've tried to play a DVD that my boss gave me for training, and it doesn't work. The CD she gave me with some songs we need to sing doesn't work either. I thought it was their CD/DVD writer too, because something they gave us before didn't work for the other teacher either. But THEN I put in a CD that Jennifer gave me for my birthday last year (one of those ones that comes in a card, a non-copied one) and it doesn't work either! But the mix-CD that she gave me this year works just fine! I don't understand!
My laptop is about 2.5 years old and I've noticed, on top of this problem, a serious decline in speed, virtual memory quality, and a mysteriously filling up hard drive. I check regularly for viruses and spyware, and don't have any serious problems with that. Is it just getting to that time that all computers come to in their lives? Is it just becoming a senior citizen? I'd love to reformat, but I don't have the Windows installation CDs, much less the ones for all the other software I need. *scream*
Why is everyone engaged or married? According to Facebook, 42 of my "friends" (within my peer group) admit to being engaged or married (I added the one who's engaged but not telling, haha.) Plus countless more in relationships. Is it a plague???? Haha.
PS - I hate the 切切切切切切切切切切切切 Girl.
