This weekend was not bad. I've been working on rewriting Shrek for one of my classes to do as an end-of-the-year play thing. Unpaid work, gotta love it. I cleaned my room on Saturday.
Then today I talked to my mom, Amy, and Gary. My mommy and Gary got married yesterday. Can you believe it?! I am so sad that I didn't get to go. It sounded so nice. Today I changed my mom's name to Mary Graham in my MS Outlook contacts. It was so weird. And now I have a real stepdad and a stepbrother! Wow. Today they are off to Florida for their honeymoon. I hope the weather is nice!
After that I went to the gym, and later this afternoon I met a new friend! His name is Will. I found him on the
TEALIT website. He's a magazine editor who's about to go to England to do his PhD at the University of Manchester in September. He's some kind of genious - he went to NTU (the best university in Taiwan), has a bachelor's in civil engineering, a MA in journalism, and about to get a PhD in politics. He wrote his master's thesis on Chinese linguistics. So he is THE guy to go to with any questions about Chinese. Haha. He even knows the pinyin system. He's the only Taiwanese I know who does. So I got to ask him lots of questions about pronunciation and characters. He seemed impressed at what I already know about Chinese characters. Just two linguistics geeks we are. He asked me some questions about England, since he's never been there. It was really nice. We had a very intellectual, nerdy conversation. :) He seemed very nervous at first and wasn't talking much. I thought maybe he wasn't so great in English. But after a while he loosened up and I saw that he knows lots and lots! And so much complicated vocabulary. I'm glad I can manage to make people not so nervous to speak to a native English speaker, at least, after a while.
That's it. And the weekend is already over. *cry*
"What Difference Does It Make?" by the Smiths
All men have secrets and here is mine - so let it be known,
For we have been through hell and high tide.
I can surely rely on you.
And yet you start to recoil.
Heavy words are so lightly thrown.
But still I'd leap in front of a flying bullet for you.
So, what difference does it make?
So, what difference does it make?
It makes none, but now you have gone
And you must be looking very old tonight.
The devil will find work for idle hands to do.
I stole and I lied, and why?
Because you asked me to!
But now you make me feel so ashamed
Because I've only got two hands.
Well, I'm still fond of you.
So, what difference does it make?
Oh, what difference does it make?
Oh, it makes none, but now you have gone
And your prejudice won't keep you warm tonight.
Oh, the devil will find work for idle hands to do.
I stole, and then I lied
Just because you asked me to.
But now you know the truth about me.
You won't see me anymore.
Well, I'm still fond of you.
But no more apologies.
No more apologies.
Oh, I'm too tired.
I'm so very tired.
And I'm feeling very sick and ill today.
But I'm still fond of you.
