Wasted day

One of the joys of living here is the mountains. Wherever we look there are mountain ranges. This is a picture of the Santa Catalina Mountains. We were driving home from the grocery store and noticed the line of clouds along the base of the mountains and stopped to take pictures.

We had to get up earlier than usual to make it to the urology clinic my 9. wayfinder38 still has to have 5 different eye drops in his right eye at least 5 minutes apart which adds at least 25 minutes to the morning routine. We made it on time and were greeting with the information that the resident who is to set up the pumps is in surgery for two hours so we can reschedule or wait until 11. We stated at least 3 times that we were there on time but surgery apparently takes precedence. The staff checked for a urinary tract infection and it was positive so no biotherapy today plus a prescription for Cipro. One of the residents checked the nephrostomy tube sites and the left side was definitely infected. Everything was rescheduled for next week and we left the clinic. I would say we beat feet but wayfinder38 was using a wheelchair today.

We dropped off the prescription at the pharmacy and did a bit of shopping. We were paged by the pharmacist who told me the dosage stated by the Dr. was not right and she needed to get the proper dosage and schedule. If he meant to prescribe the extended release version it would cost us $35 as our insurance considered the extended release version not necessary. If he could prescribe the dosage at 500 mg to take twice a day it would not cost us anything as wayfinder38 has already met his deductible. The Dr. was not available as he was in surgery so we left and were to wait for a phone call when the prescription was ready.

Much later that afternoon the pharmacist phoned to say the Dr insisted on the extended release version that would cost us money. The bad news was she did not have any in stock and we would have to wait until tomorrow morning after 8:30 to pick up the prescription. Now wayfinder38 has an appointment with the eye doctors at 8:30 tomorrow morning and that means an even longer delay until he can start the antibiotic. Every step of the way we have met small and large frustrations and delays like this. We finally worked out that she would phone around to find a pharmacy that has the medication and transfer the prescription. Another two hours pass and we get a call that the only place that has it is 14 miles from our house on the opposite side of the valley. I say the medication need to get started today so I will drive over and pick it up. So at the beginning of rush hour I leave and drive 28 miles round trip to pick up the Cipro. I gripe that "I wonder what they are teaching in medical school these days." There had better be an excellent reason to put us to all the inconvenience and unnecessary expense,

I was falling asleep on the couch before my bridge game tonight. I went over to the club house and found someone to play for me and came back home. I was too tired to be halfway competent tonight at anything. I am having a hard time spelling words correctly now, I am thankful for the spell checker or you would all be guessing as to what I meant.

I talked to the daughter today. She always puts the speaker phone on when I call so our grandson can at least hear my voice. Today he was jabbering and humming and laughing he had just had his rice gruel as he was started on solid food Sunday. We are trying to figure out when we can meet Kaspian. I had hoped it would have been by now but it was not to be. I hope it is before his first birthday.
