We got up at 7:30 but did not get underway until about 11 a.m. If we start to check our email and our LJ friends page we can consume quite a bit of time that probably would be better spent going on down the road.
wayfinder38 drove the first 30 miles to the Flying J at Tye, TX. We filled up the propane tank and filled up with diesel as the price was the best in Texas and much less than what fuel is running in Arizona. I took us out of the fuel station and on to the Interstate. We stopped once for lunch at a rest stop. After about two hundred miles my right knee was complaining. Even with cruise control the range of motion is limited for my right leg. I pulled into a rest stop and WF drove the last 30 miles. So he doubled the miles he drove over yesterday.
The scenery is brush and rolling hills with cotton fields and oil fields. There was a fair amount of truck traffic, much more than I expected on a Sunday. We also passed a FINA refinery. I understand that there are only about 75 refineries in the US today. I notice a road sign saying "Noodle Dome Road" now I wonder what is a noodle dome what does it look like. I looked over to the south and say a long mesa with windmills along the leading edge, I wondered if that was the noodle dome. I may never find out what one is. I'm thinking of commenting on some of the funny names of roads. In Duncan there was a Camelback Road. I wondered why a road of that name in the middle of Oklahoma. Why a camel back and not a camel hump or camel foot or camel lip.
We pulled into the Escapees RV park about 5 just as the sun was getting into our eyes. The sites here are narrow and jammed together we decided to take a back in site where we had more room. We were going to unhitch the car anyway as I did not want to drive most of the day and then fix dinner. I already washed dishes once today. We only have 30 amp service but we can manage. We just have to turn off one of the heaters when we use the microwave or toaster. We ventured out to have dinner and pick up a few things at the grocery store. The first place we went was closed so we wound up at the truck stop. For a truck stop the food was pretty good. I had Chili Rellanos which were very good. WF had past with shrimp and sausage and Chipotle Al Fredo Sauce. Interesting fusion of cultures in that dish.
It's 300 miles from here to Deming, NM. We would need to start earlier than today to get there before the sun starts blazing into our eyes. We need to find time for
wayfinder38 to have his blood test. I think we will stop by the hospital here to see if their lab can do it and fax the results to Madison.
Tonight we have WiFi in the park. They just got it and said tonight it is free tomorrow they will start charging for the service. I can take free.
