Sorry, Poeia!!! :D

Okay, I've been given a much-needed scold by Poeia, so I'm popping up out of my groundhog hole to assure her (and anyone else who's been wondering if I came to a tragic, early end and forgot to post about it ;P) that  A) I'm still alive and  B) I have not abandoned the House fandom, current evidence to the contrary.

First of all, the excuses (whinging starts now):

It's been the beginning of the Spring-Summer holiday season, and that means parties, parties, parties, many of which I've hosted, the rest which I've had to attend. I've had Confirmation dinner, Graduation Day and Graduation dinner, Mothers' Day, Fathers' Day, hosted the family Memorial Day barbecue, and now I'm up late cleaning my house for the big Fourth of July barbecue. It's wonderful having big family get-togethers--but it's also sucking up a lot of what used to be fic-writing time.

Next--the JOB. It's grown into this Cthuthlu-like tentacled beast that swallows me whole on the weekdays, leaving little bits of me to scramble to do household chores on the weekends. However, I intend to get a whip and subdue the beast--or at least, keep my wits until the summer insanity is over.

Finally, I've been gone on a much-needed vacation to the Pacific Northwest, where I recharged my batteries--and where I fell deeply into working on my original scifi novel. Why yes, I like scifi--how can you tell? coughPostcardscough

But there is some good news:

Believe it or not, I worked on Postcards before I left on vacation, and half of Chapter 15 is done. It's the beginning of the end, as things start falling into place for both Chases. I hope to work on the chapter on the holiday weekend (after the July 4 craziness is over), and who knows---maybe I'll have something to post in a week or so.

Also, I've been very neglectful of my friends' list and all of the wonderful fics they've been writing--and I will catch up, one way or the other. That's a promise---yes, I know I've made that promise before, but I did catch up, didn't I?...before I fell behind again. Sometimes I wish all of you weren't so damn talented and prolific!
Anyway, thanks for your patience, and thanks, Poeia, for giving me the little push I needed. It's too easy to keep letting the noisier parts of my life take over--but I always like when someone brings me back to remembering what I love about fic-writing.

See you guys soon! I promise!

Aenisses
