Isn't that illegal to not compensate you for extra shifts? And why would they penalize overtime? It's no the workers fault that the store in understaffed

Tegge-san~~~~ Yes, it is illegal to not compensate HOURLY employees for extra shifts. But Blockbuster has all their higher management on SALARY, which is a yearly pay rather than hourly. So they can do whatever they want D:

Overtime costs more since it's time and a half, so companies deter it by penalizing stores that use it. Again, D:

How has your life been~ It seems to be a lot more exciting that mine atm XD

Yeah, that's pretty much how corporations do it these days. Cut hours down to the bare minimum, chew out store managers for overtime, and still expect to get more stuff done than what you can with the help you have. GOTTA LOVE RETAIL.

Also, in response to the cut title. That's what she said.

Um, if you're interested, I know that St David's main is looking for unit clerks (it's basically medical entry, phone answering, etc). I'm stationed there doing NICU, and since you've got some computer knowledge you may be able to get your foot in the door. Say you were referred by me, as I'm technically an employee of the network still, and that may help a little bit more. Pay won't be what you're getting right now, but always opportunities for OT, and the benefits are pretty damn good (seriously with massive medical crap with the car accident I didn't spend much last year in copays and whatnot, since I changed jobs I'm looking at a different boat but it still isn't bad). But just google St David's Austin, then pull up the careers for the main hospital. That's the one on 32nd and Red River. South Austin is also a good place to be at, they tend to need registration folks and clerks as well... And they're more willing to take people with a little less experience than a medical office is ( ... )
