Holy moly mackerel. This was just...awesome. You bring them together so naturally, highlighting their vulnerabilities and their strengths and making the two of them fit together perfectly.

Yeah. This was about the time I put on my headphones. :) I love how you show her lonliness in such a physical way--the one set of footprints. Made me shiver.

“My rich boyfriend jumped off the roof of the Neptune Grand. So I guess that makes him a rich ex-boyfriend, doesn’t it?” The steel in her voice surprised her; she hadn’t known it was there and hadn’t heard it before.

Wow. Never occured to me that he might not know. I love her reaction to it--heartbreaking and telling and I love her surprise and the beginning of this bitterness, where before she's been so quiet and easygoing.

When she opened her eyes, seeing skin and eyelashes, she noticed the small tattoos at the corners of his eyes and a little voice in her head whispered that she should put a few more inches between them.

Okay, so it's sad to be so giddy about something so shallow in such a deep and thought provoking and heartbreaking and beautiful fic...but the thought of him having those eye tats makes me absolutely beyond giddy. Because inside my thinky self, I'm a very shallow girl, and I love those tats.

BUT, the main things I love about this fic: the way you've logically progressed them, made the things that have happened to them have consequences, and then given them a way to find some sort of equilibrium with one another.

Thanks! I have to say that it's one pairing I don't have to struggle with. LOL Probably because I'm a nerd myself.

I have more written of this fic...but I'm wary of posting it. Because, the truth of it is that he basically got some chick he barely knew drunk and had sex with her. Which is morally ambiguous at best. There isn't a happily ever after when they realize what they've done. At least, not right away.
