Wow. To be honest, when I read the rec on my flist I was really sceptical. Both of these verses and all of these characters are touchy subjects and handled badly this could have been a testament to badfic everywhere. However, all of your characterizations were right on the money. The interactions of the crew and Riddick were really well done, as were Riddick's reactions to suddenly waking up on Serenity. I loved your River especially, everything she said and did was masterfully multi layered. I loved too that Mal was left thinking that Inara "serviced" Riddick and you just know she won't bother enlightening him. To her way of thinking, if Mal won't come out and ask what really happened then he doesn't deserve to know.

In short, I thought this was wonderfully done. Interesting, engaging and yet entirely true to what I would expect from these characters. Really excellent!

Thank you! And I have to admit that I consider this to be crack!fic written by a sad, little Riddick fangirl. LOL I've been very surprised that people aren't patting me on the head and sending me off to the men with straight jackets. :)

Hee! I think maybe there's more little Riddick fangirls in the world than you might expect! Me, for example! ;)

And there is such a lack of good Riddick fic! It's quite sad. Our fandom, by and large, is pretty sucky.

So true! All to often writers try to turn Riddick into this soft puppy dog of a guy, thinking his tough exterior hides an inner softie. While that may be true of Vin himself, it is absolutely untrue of Riddick. The real Riddick is as you wrote him, tough, solitary and unwavering in his discomfort around and even outright hatred of other humans. He's much harder to write that way too.

Before I even try to write Riddick, I wander over to my brother's and play Escape from Butcher Bay for a few hours. It really helps kill the desire to make him a fluffy puppy. I think it should be mandatory for all Riddick writers. *grin*
