Live 8 was (is) extraordinary! At one point, the viewing figures globally were 5 billion. If that is accurate, it means that five out of every six people in the entire world saw Live 8. Five out of six people in the world!
The numbers of Africans dying from poverty and disease is astounding... every day, 50,000 Africans die as a result of preventable causes. 50,000! An African child dies once every three seconds of preventable causes; two children will have died in the time it takes you to read this sentence.
I'm so overpowered by the numbers and how the G8 needs to make things fairer to stop so many deaths. We can make it happen. Write to your local MP/Congressman/Senator and tell them you want the situation in Africa to be dealt with; dropping the debt, doubling aid and sorting out the trade balance.
In terms of the concert in Hyde Park - WOW! What a superb event! I loved The Killers, Stereophonics, Razorlight, Robbie Williams and Madonna.
I'm done now. Assuming you read at the same pace I do, eight children died in the time it took you to read this entry. Please
add your name to a petition to the G8 leaders for them to tackle poverty in Africa.
