IT IS DONE. I just came out of my Preliminary Examination in Computer Science and Engineering, which consists of presenting the project I've been working on over the summer to a panel of three professors. Given that they didn't snarl and shoot force lightning at me (and the fact that I think I was able to answer their questions to their satisfaction), I think it went pretty well; I won't know for sure until sometime next week though. Now that this presentation is done, the next thing to do is try to get things in good enough shape that I can submit to SIGMOD.. although if I end up missing that deadline there's plenty of other places I could submit to.

Anyway, it's off to class, then a celebratory lunch with niquerio at Zingerman's, then work on Ye Problem Sette of Doom for my Computational Complexity class. (Actually, it doesn't look too hideous - I think I have a general approach for everything except perhaps the last problem.)

I'm going to start keeping this updated again - I don't know if it'll be more about databases and classes or about music, dancing and singing, but at least it should continue to be mostly angst-free! Well, mostly - tomorrow I'm supposed to be camping out for Shakespeare tickets, and then there's ABCD all weekend.. perhaps I'll not go to campus tomorrow and just spend a little time looking at problem sets and a little more time playing NWN. Might as well get it in now, since I'll surely have no time to play NWN2 when it comes out...

(Why rename? For some reason, I've never really identified with any handle I've created for very long. I think what it comes down to is that "aelkiss" works fine by itself. There aren't any others (excepting some AOL user who won't talk to me), and although you can find some embarassing stuff from when I was younger, I don't have a big problem with online-self being identified with real-self. So, dreamsquirrel is no more - I always thought the name was a bit silly, but it seemed like a good idea at the time.. Now at least I'm consistent with the rest of me!)
