TM Response #378 - Write about a time something blew up in your face.

There's pretty much one time, and one time only that comes to my mind, and that's making William Dunbar a Lyoko Warrior.

Adding a sixth member to the group was supposed to be a good thing, supposed to take the pressure off of us as XANA stepped up his attacks. If one member of the group couldn't make it when XANA activated one of his towers then we would at least still have four people to go in and fight. It was supposed to give us an advantage in the war.

It's easy, now, to look back on that situation and think about what we should have done as opposed to what actually happened. Jeremie and I should have taken the time to educate William more about what XANA and Lyoko were and just what we were fighting against. Ulrich, Yumi and Odd should have tried harder to get to Lyoko when XANA activated that tower instead of just assuming that somebody else would cover for them. We should have realized that XANA wouldn't take it easy on us just because we were breaking in a new teammate.

But we didn't do any of those things, and it came back to bite us in the ass...hard. Our sixth teammate, our supposed saving grace, turned out to be a show-off who got himself captured by the enemy and turned into XANA's puppet. The thing that was supposed to help us save Lyoko destroyed it instead.
