TM Response #286 - Under what circumstances, if any, is it okay to break the law?
As I look back on our war with XANA, I can't help but think of how many school rules we broke over the course of our battles, to say nothing of city or national law. And we were so blase about it, too. I guess it was because of the Return to the Past program; it didn't matter how bad everything had gotten, because once I had deactivated XANA's tower all Jeremie had to do was enter the Return to the Past code and press the button and the slate was wiped clean. It was like it had never even happened - because, technically, it hadn't.
And then there's Odd, who broke school rules every day just by keeping Kiwi in his and Ulrich's dorm room. Most of the students around Kadic didn't care and tended to look out for Kiwi rather than rat Odd out to Jim or Principal Delmas. I think it was because Kiwi reminded a lot of them about a pet they had been forced to leave at home. For a while Kiwi filled that void, and I know a lot of students grieved after Kiwi was killed.
So, let's just say I won't be surprised if one of these days Odd shows up on campus with another puppy. One way or another, Kiwi's legacy will live on.
