14. The Warrior's Apprentice by Lois McMaster Bujold

Fun, funny science fiction.  The son of an important family, who has severe medical issues, washes out of military school because he screws up the obstacle course.  You know, despite severely messed up legs, he jumps off a wall instead of climbing down.  After all the trouble he went to to get his scores averaged, because he knew he couldn't physicaly pass the physical tests.  So, he shatters both his legs, which sucks just a little bit.  Goes to visit his grandmother and winds up accidentally forming a mercenary company.  Yes, accidentally.  Funny book, lots of good characters.  Definitely a good read.

15. Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris

This one was fun.  Very very amusing.  All the vampire fiction I've been reading so far has had an urban setting (they do call it urban fantasy for a reason), so a small-town southern one is kinda different.  And it's funny. I've really gotten to like first-person narration in novels, and I think the voice the author creates for Sookie is just wonderful.  An interesting mix of naivete and intelligence.  (Having seen the first episode of True Blood, I think the main thing that's missing is the main character's very innocent reaction to a lot of what's going on around her (specifically the sex).
