so yeah

Thanks to everyone who made it out (or wanted to) for my party on Saturday; it was smallish but lovely, just what I needed, and marvelous to see a lot of you. Thanks also for all the birthday wishes and such; I glanced over my flist a couple of times last Wednesday, but spent the days after that frantically cleaning (I've, uh, been kind of lax about clutter), and just wasn't online much, but really appreciated seeing that people thought of me.

I've been getting ready for WonderCon, as I'm doing a thing for the masquerade with Corli and some other friends, and when I'm playing (trying to do less of it, generally), am learning how to tank in Warcraft, since I recently switched my paladin to protection and was almost immediately dragged along to Naxxramas (10-man raid), when one of our regular guys didn't show. Thrilling! I spent yesterday up in Pleasanton with Carl, as he treated me a showing of Under the Sea in 3-D IMAX (which had so much cephalopod action, I was delighted--cuttlefish and then squid and then two more segments of cuttlefish, plus nautilus!) and 3-D Coraline (which I quite loved, though it is a different beast than the book; pity my hair's purple right now, or I'd be scrambling for a yellow slicker and boots for Saturday, to dress as herself), and had lunch and dinner and yogurt inbetween, and it was just lovely.

But then I came home, and Jim told me Ellie was trying to get ahold of me. I knew what it had to be, something with Kage, and spent the next hour frantically trying to reach her, stopping next door for a hug from Christy, crying my eyes out for awhile, calling over and over (Ellie was in the shower), even going all stalker and stopping by her place. We finally managed to connect (I am nothing if not persistent, and finally rang when she could hear it), and are on the same page in terms of her care (do everything we can for her as long as we can, but nothing too risky). I drove us down to take Kage to the vet tonight, where she's having her kidneys flushed for the next two days; if her numbers are better on Saturday, they're going to schedule the surgery for Monday, it sounds like, and remove the tumor. Gas-type anesthetic will hopefully be safer for her, but I'm nervous about general at the best of times, so will be doing a lot of lalala distracty things that day, I suspect.

Tomorrow I'm going to go visit Miss Thing down at the vet, then go to dance class and a birthday party. Saturday will be spent at WonderCon, and maybe midnight Rocky Horror, it's unclear. Sunday is an all-day marathon of Being Human (oh, god, Mitchell...I'll be in my happy place) up at Erik and Phil's, so whee fun planny. Someday I'll find a way to keep up on LJ, either posting or reading, I keep hoping, but for now I'm still extremely erratic about it all.
