I just saw Twilight with cellibella, thuri and Corli, and ah hahahahaha.

Now, everything I learned about Twilight, I learned from cleolinda, with a side helping of Breanna and the crazy lasses over at Twatlight, so I went into this for the lulz, not any real interest in the story (which I could rant at length about, given what I've heard ( Read more... )

I read the book for my fluffy book club, so some of us from the book club saw it together. My expectations had been sufficiently lowered so by the time I saw it last week, it met my expectations. We laughed at sooo many places, it was fun! What I also found interesting is how the different people in the theater (there were not more than 10 others in there, all adults, too) laughed at different times. And hearing the others laugh when I didn't then made me laugh. =)

scoreboard's second cousin's wife works in a high school as a counselor and has finally chosen a favorite student (a guy) who replied to a girl's moaning about not being able to find an "Edward Cullen" with "that's because he's a FICTIONAL CHARACTER. HE DOESN'T EXIST." Ahhh, you smart boy, you. These high school girls are not worthy of you. ;)

MY biggest issue with the whole Bella-Edward relationship is the gross Mormon-overtones: he bosses her around and she just blindly does what he says. He never says "please" or even hints that what he's saying is a suggestion. He also never says thank you. But because she's The Woman, *of course* she'll just obey his every word.

Yeah, FUCK YOU.

Ahem.

Bella is allegedly this intelligent, independent, confident, observant person... and yet, she never questions Edward. 1) There aren't that many teenage girls who are like that to that alleged extreme, and 2) even if there were, there is no way they would just instantly obey some dude (no matter how hot he may be) without question.

And lastly, I totally hear ya on the hesitation to send certain messages about boys, relationships, and love to teenage girls. UGH.
