I feel like Sally Field!

Thanks to everyone who responded when I was afraid no one was reading any more! I feel a bit silly, and a bit like Sally Field: "You like me!" I got more replies than I expected, and they really buoyed me.

Things have been just a bit rough lately. I have a relation who was tested for coronavirus today; they expect it will be about a week for results, give or take, and he's lucky to have been able to get a test at all. He feels awful, but he's not at the point of hospitalization. The doctor has him on antibiotics to keep a secondary infection under control and is watching him closely. We've been worried about him since late last week, so just getting the test, and seeing that while he doesn't feel better yet, he's not getting worse, feel like some relief.

Meanwhile, our beloved senior cat Doofus has been diagnosed with terminal cancer. We're hoping for more details from our vet when she's had a chance to look at all the results, but the initial prognosis is roughly one to six months. He seems not to be in pain. He still purrs up a storm and wants love, love, love. But he's now more of a scaredy cat than ever. We got a cat fountain shortly before his diagnosis in the hopes of getting the other cat, Phantom, to drink more water (to help with her minor medical issues). First, he was afraid of that. Then, we thought he was ok with that-but after he had to leave the house and have surgery, then he seemed to be afraid of Brilliant Husband (who took him to surgery), the fountain (must be some kind of weapon!), and even Phantom.

When Sparky got cancer, she became wary of dogs. She never encountered them much, but she was always curious about them when she did and would go right up and sniff them. And then she didn't want to be near them at all. I think they may know when they're vulnerable.

But Sparky was given six months and lived 2 1/2 more years. We hope dear old Doofus might do as well.
