By the time our oldest was in 2nd grade, we knew we couldn't count on the public school system to educate our kids. We've been doing this at home after school, even if it means I'm taking a refresher course on dividing fractions. I'm hoping most parents are doing the same, especially in California. As it is, my kids are going to school every day with a class full of kids that will work for them someday.
