It's been five days short of twenty-seven months since I last updated my LiveJournal style, and I thought it was time for a change. The old style was interesting but didn't quite work; the text was only so legible with the translucent backdrop. I also got tired of the Verdana font; I've come to prefer the Georgia family for reading.
So now I'm using the "Bats Blue" style for the "Expressive" layout, but I swapped the header and post ornamentation images for ones I created. The post ornamentation (the tiny image next to the subject for each entry) is a smaller version of my custom icon on
Illusionary Minds Chat, which is basically a stylized arrangement of triangles and circles (or circles arranged as triangles in a circle).
The header image is the same header that comes with the Bats styles but with the bats removed and anime characters put in their place. Each of the characters is one to whom I relate in some fashion, and the bunch of them represent some overlapping archetypes: Nagato Yuki from
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, Ayanami Rei from
Neon Genesis Evangelion, Kino and Hermes from
Kino's Journey, Iria from
Iria: Zeiram the Animation, and Meia Gisborn from
Vandread.
I may or may not add more to it or change the arrangement at some point, but I think it works pretty well for now. I like how I was able to blend the pictures together, though there weren't many decent pictures of Meia Gisborn. I might have to take some of my own screen shots sometime, but that'll have to wait until I fix the video problems I'm having. I think I'm happy with the style overall, and it's good to have a change of pace.
