(no subject)
So today was definitely a more normal day! Can't really grasp what came over me, although I still remember how it felt. It feels like a dream though. Weird.
I finished my paper this morning and I ended up having to present on it as expected, being one of the only few gaijin in the class. I knew she'd want my opinion on evolution and creationism (which was what the paper was on, the class being evolutionary biology) because I am from the states. Sven, from Germany and Andrew from Oregon presented their papers as well. The funny thing is we were all ready to go and didn't care to present really. Of the like 30 Japanese student, the teacher had a difficult time getting even one student to present. She wasn't able to find any volunteers until after we gaijin presented, and then she even had to call a name at random off of the attendance sheet.. Jeeze... talk about shy.
Kumi chan (friend of my host family's) just arrived today and is staying until monday. We went out to pasta for dinner. It is good seeing her again, since she also came out here in October.
Tomorrow morning I go to Nagano with everyone from our program along with 30 Japanese students from Waseda who are studying abroad on our campuses next year. It should be interesting, but we'll see how it will be. We went to Nagano in November and it was alright. Cold and rainy, but fun. It just seems like a waste being there for a period of less than 24 hours when it takes 3-4 hours to drive there.
I seriously love my host sister just as much as my own sister. In fact, I consider my host sister my real sister. I love her and having to leave her will break my heart.. as I keep saying. But, leaving this country period is going to shatter me pretty badly i think. I'm kind of afraid of coming home in general... and even going to Germany almost right after I get home.. It's all so strange. Anyway, gotta get ready for tomorrow since we're meeting pretty early!
