WE HAVE ACHIEVED LIFTOFF. CUE THE ANGELIC CHORUSES. BOTH YOUNG JUSTICE AND KORRA HAD REALLY GOOD EPISODES THAT MADE ME WANT TO WATCH MORE OF EACH SERIES. I MAY EVEN START CREEPING ON OTHERS WHO ARE NOT CURRENTLY WATCHING TO MAKE THEM WATCH. BE WARNED.
Actually there was one funny thing: why in hell were the bender police not investigating a man who was installing police scanners in all his publicly sold cars? I mean really, Republic City police, would this not have put up giant red flags on your radar before now? But yes, small and inconsequential and completely not interfering with my enjoyment of the episode, where we FINALLY get some acknowledgement of the fact that Korra's methods and attitude have been kinda bullying this whole time, and we FINALLY get the beginning of what I hope will end in an incredible tongue lashing by Asami toward Korra and Mako because of their illicit kiss and not telling her about their not-relationship they both want, and we FINALLY get some mention that Korra's lack of airbending is maybe a high priority problem, and we ALSO FINALLY get some sign that the bending government are being giant tools toward the nonbending public. IT'S ALL THE BEST THINGS ROLLED INTO ONE.
As for Young Justice, FLASH FAMILY REUNION FROM THE FUTURE WHUT. Iloveit. We got all the Flashes. Young Impulse (grandson of the JLA Flash) from the future comes back in time to "sightsee" (in reality to change the past so it's not a nuclear wasteland in the future) and we get some idea of why the hell the Krolateans are even there. He's interesting, he's multi-faceted, he's putting up a persona while hiding a darker past, and he gives credence to the theory that, even if this isn't an alternate universe, there may well be time- and space-skipping shenanigans going on to alter it. In addition, the episode features: Kid Flash, both Robins, Beast Boy, Roy, and Cheshire. You know what this means? None of the characters the show managed to tear my heart out with/make me want to punch something are in this episode. Yesssssssssss! Coulda used more ladies, but I'm willing to cut it some slack for the amazing Flashmob. *ba-dum psh!*
On another note entirely, working at the library and flipping through books to check for damages before I shelve them has given me an irrational hatred for certain book series and their characters. Curious George is a chaotic monkey that does nothing but make trouble and put others and himself in harm's way, but he gets away with it because he's a monkey that's treated as equal to a human being for some reason. Amelia Bedelia is a person with a genuine block to her ability to contextualize words and their meanings, to the point where she takes every single thing she hears to have the literal meaning with which she is familiar (sponge cake = cake with sponge pieces in it, baby shower = blasting a pregnant woman with a hose, etc.). And Junie B. Jones...oh Junie B. Jones. Junie B. Jones is a child with some sort of social dyslexia, who cannot have friends without insulting or physically threatening them (in every. single. book.) and who is slowly but surely driving both her teachers and parents to madness because of her..."precocious" nature. And by precocious I mean I think she's a sociopath.
And, last but most definitely not least, Happy Birthday, eibheall! :D
