HS CROSSOVER, BEST FRIENDS

Mar 13, 2012 20:03

Okay so yeah because of a certain Tumblr image (from here, one amazing tumblr) of Vriska as Spidergirl, I've been trying to mentally cross over what superheroes the Homestuck peeps would be. Some are obvious choices, some are tougher, and I would appreciate input as I am not an expert in superheroes. And lazy. So, the list, and I will edit in what ( Read more... )

hamsteak, crossovers, superheroes

Maybe John could be the fun Aquaman from Batman: The Brave and the Bold? It's not a very good power overlap, and for all his ridiculousness I don't generally think of John as being bombastic -- but I feel that if any superhero were going to take a break from his heroic quest to passionately reenact the climax of his favorite movie, there's a good chance it would be Aquaman.

I'm saying this from a position of 90% ignorance but never let it be said that I wasn't there for you in your time of need.

I'm doing well enough, I guess. I'm still trying to get some anxiety issues under control, but other than (and partially because of) that, I don't have any big news.

I did finally claw my way to the top of my family's Scrabble hierarchy, though. So there's that!

wait, no, scratch that; the most dramatic thing that's happened to me lately isn't becoming Scrabble empress, it's stumbling into the middle of tumblr's lorax movie meltdown

I don't know how a day that started with me reading about dionysus & apollo's areas of cultic and philosophical interdependence ended with me reading someone's ironic protest porn starring the onceler

why is this happening to me

why am I doing this to myself

why is there so much charmed delight mixed in with my stunned horror

No anxiety issues, bad. :( This is a war you can win! Fight the power!

Congrats on being Scrabble Empress, though! What sealed your victory? Was it the word 'exoskeleton', or something equally fantabulous?

And...How in the hell did you manage that shift of topics? Okay, so I have read/watched videos explaining how the Lorax fails as an adaptation of its source material AND as a standalone movie, but I am curious as to how the hell this led into..uh.."ironic protest porn."

(and I'm always glad to hear from you ♥)

Ahhhhh, I'm so sorry for the 100% predictable delay! I've been running around to different doctor's appointments trying to find out what's going on with my optic nerves (with the tentative diagnosis that they're probably just weird but otherwise okay ( ... )

GUUURRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRL WHAT IS GOING ON THAT IS NOT SUFFICIENTLY DETAILED OF AN EXPLANATION

...."Just" a 127 point Scrabble word. I do not think that word means what you think it means. But nice going! I always loved it when I could use all the letters (which has happened a grand total of..maybe twice). My family does not play enough Scrabble, perhaps I will introduce Ian to it this afternoon.

Hooooo boy. Although, I will say, I grew up with the cartoon version from the...70s? 80s? so any sort of annoyance with the film seems entirely justified in my rose-colored child's memory.

I went in for a retinal check-up and they thought that one of my optic nerves (this time in the good eye) looked a little swollen, but when I went to see a neurologist I didn't have any of the symptoms you would expect from someone with an optic nerve problem. I'll go in again in May to see if anything's changed, but for right now the assumption is that I'm probably fine.

I was actually really proud of that score, and then I made the mistake of looking up the highest recorded single-word Scrabble scores online out of curiosity.

(appropriate icon is appropriate) Well that's...encouraging. Maybe we should look into fitting you with robotically enhanced parts or something. I'm thinking eyeballs and possibly extendable lower legs for those hard-to-reach cupboards. ;)

I didn't even know oxyphenbutazone was a word. Man, people must be really into reading the dictionary if they're competitive Scrabble players.

I had a dream last night where you, Rachel, Holly, Kendra and I were all going out to see a movie together. I miss you.

On a related note, I've finally rigged up a system that will let me access my family's internet on my own computer, which means I can have uninterrupted chats with you guys now that I've moved off our shared desktop! So I ought to start pestering you more sometime soon.

I have another retinal exam next Wednesday and my eyes will stay artificially dilated until pretty late in the evening, so that's not a good day for trying to focus on a computer screen. As far as I know right now, though, any other evening this or next week should work just fine!
