OLD MAN LOVE. OLD MAN LOVE.
I don't think anything can convince me that this ship is not totally freaking canon and amazing in every way possible. I am willing to put my hands over my ears and close my eyes and go, "LA LA LA LA LA" forever regarding any canon material that says otherwise. I like to pretend that they grew old, got married in San Francisco and visited Bones and the grandkids on the family farm every Christmas.
I mulled over a bunch of ships for this, but this one came out on top as having best over-all chemistry. There's tension, there's friendship, there's devotion and even clinging and hand-holding and squish-walking and a complete rapport that never really went away, even when Spock went away to rid himself of those feelings.
I love how close they are. They are obviously the most important people in each other's lives, and it shows in how they act around each other. They'd gladly risk their lives (and, kind of disturbingly, the lives of others) for each other's safety. There have been many episodes where I've watched episodes where it's like, "...did I just see that? Are they for real?" because one of them has done or said something so overwhelmingly queer to the other.
Even if I just look at them as a nonsexual friendship, the chemistry still remains-they are, and always shall be, best friends ♥
