Aegiswings
"Aegiswings" isn't my real name. It's the name of the seraphim that protect our planet. They soar above us unseen outside the bubble and just above the clouds in wide circles forever watching the skies. We have many shrines devoted to them here. It's not so unusual to come across one when wandering the fields along the edge of the bubble. The ones in the city are large, elaborate wooden structures with numerous alcoves filled with ornately carved stone statues. The smallest ones outside the city may be no more than a tiny wooden gate with a small path, a water basin, and a statue. Whenever you approach one, it is customary to toss a coin into the basin as an offering and silently bow your head in prayer. Someday I'd love to tour the countryside and visit them all.
A lot of people don't believe the Aegiswings actually exist. But how else do you explain that our planet has been the only one spared by the Hordes that have ultimately overrun every other colony in this area of the galaxy? There is something up there protecting us. Something that is making this planet a place that the Horde would never dare approach. There are also stories that an Aegiswings seraph was found once, lying dead in a field, apparently having fallen from the sky. He was quickly taken away by some agents and never seen or heard about again. No one has any idea how he died or how he made it inside the bubble.
