the studio version of this song isn't on youtube, so you're stuck with this live version. At least you have cool lights to look at? I actually got to see Billy's solo show in D.C. in the summer of '05. It was great to be amongst so many fans, we Pumpkins fans are a passionate bunch! Which is why I get a bit pissed off at Billy's attitude lately, like he's forgetting what awesome fans he has. I may go into even more later, but I am also a big fan of the former Pumpkins drummer, Jimmy, I think his drumming is the most amazing thing and was a big part of the Pumpkin magic. And in recent interviews where Billy is being a genuine dick, putting down Jimmy, it pisses me off. I don't see Billy's gratitude for his fans, or for the opportunity he had to play with such an awesome drummer for so many years. :sigh:
Anyways, this song is, like I said, from Billy's 2005 solo album. It's way better than anything on the last Pumpkins album, and not many people know this song because only die hard fans even bothered to buy his solo album, but I think it's great. The last Pumpkins album may have sucked, but from past work, I still have to say Billy is one of my favorite songwriters of all time. lyrics after the cut!

this is the mark I cannot place
this is the wish I dare not leave
time uncovers what is keeping still
I unaware move against my will
simon says pass on by
passions wane
stragglers weep
hungers fight
for the camera eye
hold me so I'll never let you go
stay with me for awhile while I sleep
momma squeeze
grace my spine
walk on through
the camera eye
listen listen
this is the name I cannot speak
this is the flame I dare not douse
here things are
we'll never get that far
close enough to die a time or two or three
stretch my skin
restless gods
maybe turn my heart of hearts
deposit CHANGE
in the camera eye
who needs pain to survive?
I need pain to change my life
With gentle myths and turning leaves
we all come to bury truth
honey choose my wet dream
a naked soul just has to grieve
if I bleed
the camera cries
no one doubts
the camera eye
move fast forward through the camera eye
move fast forward through the camera eye
the camera eye
the camera eye
