prince sexypants (01:22:58 AM): I can't promise I'll be up much longer after you get here, but sure.
NorthernSkyLord (01:23:48 AM): Alright, I shall make haste.
prince sexypants (01:24:15 AM): I'll see you in a bit.

Zalbag quickly made haste towards Mediterranean Hall, second floor, first room. It had been way too long since he had seen the ninja prince and now that he had helped save his life, he couldn't ever forgive himself if he didn't go to see him and thank him. Placing three soft knocks on his door, he waited for Edge to answer.

Of course, Edge was planning on going to bed, but it was so rare that he actually saw Zalbag outside of passing him in the hall of the college. Pushing the door open, the ninja left it there and returned to lounging on the couch. "Come on in.." He called out, just to make sure Zalbag didn't get caught in his proper routine where he didn't come in without being formally invited.

Somehow, Zalbag felt a little off being here since it was so late at night but he felt like he needed to do this. He closed the door behind him after he was formally invited and followed Edge to the living room. He sat next to him, looking straight ahead. Then looked at Edge. "Milord Edge...."

"Hm..?" Of course, Edge didn't think much of the past. Zalbag hadn't hurt anyone, even if he would claim to have doing so. Shrugging his shoulders a bit he went ahead and continued on. "Don't worry so much, okay?" Because, honestly Zalbag needed to take a break from thinking about everyone else..

"I make much attempt not to, milord..." Zalbag said silently. Because he swore his knighthood to Edge, wasn't it his job to protect Edge with his life? And yet Edge was the one who saved Zalbag, despite having help from others. But still, Zalbag couldn't help but put himself before others first. "Thank you... for coming to my rescue... And for believing in me...." Zalbag then knelt before the ninja prince who seemed to be all too nonchalant and just sitting there on the couch.

That was who he was, he was as nonchalant as anyone on the planet, really. Really, he had to keep most of his comments to himself. Comments about Zalbag kneeling before him and such. Really, he never liked the whole proper way to royalty routine. It was good sometimes, but it was nice just to be around someone. "Oh, get back on the couch. Don't kneel down there."

Zalbag sighed for a bit, then sat back on the couch next to Edge. But Zalbag couldn't help how he was raised. But it raised some concerns for the arc knight. "Lord Edge, is... is something the matter..?"

"Nothing's wrong. I just wished that you would treat me normally." He didn't know what else to say about that. It was hard to be treated like a king, even when he wasn't acting as one. "You don't have to treat me like this all the time. I just wish that you would....treat me like a friend more than anything else."

"I..." Zalbag hesitated to continue. "I apologize...." Zalbag immediately then thought that he had been doing this all wrong. So Edge wanted to treat him like a friend, huh? They say old habits are hard to break but this was something that Zalbag was going to have to try. Being raised on this notion for 30 years was a hard thing to do away from. Just then, Zalbag saw the watch and it was getting late. "Lord Edge, mayhap I should take my leave..."

"If you want. I'd rather that you stay for the evening..." He sighed faintly. He really didn't want Zalbag to leave in such a way. There was just too much to deal with when it came to how he felt about Zalbag. "How do you feel about me..? I never can quite tell." Sometimes, he thought it was more than the whole retainer thing, and other times it seemed like the completely opposite.

After the whole shadow thing, Zalbag felt like he could come to terms with his own feelings. He had been denying them for so long that he couldn't even dare speak of them. "Not many were aware of this, milord but...." He paused for a second, considering his words carefully. Even then, he knew he was holding something back. Zalbag leaned towards the front, arms on his lap, and stared at the stars from out Edge's window. "Lord Edge... when I swore my knighthood to you, mayhap it had only been for my own selfish reasons... I was but alive, and came to fruition that I am once again among the living. Being your retainer gave me a sense of purpose. A sense of belonging. A sense of being, I suppose. 'Tis the closest thing on familiar ground for me... And yet with time, I grew closer to you. In mind, mayhap. In heart... yes. And yet I could not seem to grasp that it would be accepted. My... My shadow... it confessed for me... That I have fallen for you, milord... Many may not see it proper. And would it ever occur that I must avoid such looks in peoples eyes, then mayhap I have been unbecoming of myself. And yet still, I could not deny these feelings. Lest you had done something unforgiveable, I could not... Lord Edge, you have shown me kindness, loyalty, and friendship like no other... I only regret that I've not the time to show you mine..."

"So, fix it." Edge said matter-of-factly. In reality, Edge had been waiting for Zalbag to say something, anything. He always felt as if it wasn't as much as he thought it had been. Hell, he had even considered trying to distance himself so he wouldn't get hurt. And everytime he had tried to do so, something always brought him back. "I know that you're busy and you have work to do." Really, he was old enough to be a teacher himself, but that was a whole different matter.
He thought about it for a moment before sighing. "Just...try to give me more time. I'm going to be honest with you...I can be very flighty sometimes..and I was a little worried I would do something stupid."

"My shadow.... It had also told me that you would leave... mayhap for another.... And for that, I cannot place blame upon you," Zalbag answered softly while still looking out at the window at the stars. "Mayhap it is because you and I would rarely see one another... Mayhap it is my own foolish insecurities that have disallowed me from seeing you... When I've discovered that in the recent past you seemed to have been interested in another, mayhap a deeper part of me negated many possibilities..." Yes Zalbag had insecurities still, but at least he wasn't denying them anymore, or hiding them.

He raised an eyebrow at that. "Zalbag. I've been interested in a lot of people in the past. But, this isn't the past..." He thought about it for a moment. "Besides, I'm interested in you right now." That was the whole reason he had stayed for so long and tried to keep himself from flirting too much.

"...Lord Edge?" Zalbag opened his eyes wide and looked at Edge. He was a little speechless. "Even after all..." Okay, he was gettting speechless. "But milord, I..." His doubts started to show again, but he stopped himself before he could express any more of them in words. "Truly..?"

"If it wasn't true, you wouldn't be here right now. Look, I've been waiting a long time here. Try not to keep me waiting much longer, okay?" He grinned a bit and punched Zalbag on the shoulder. "And try not to work as much, too."

"Y-Yes, milord..." Zalbag answered. If this was a request from his liege, then Zalbag would follow it. But it really wasn't about following orders. It was about taking a chance. "I... I would wish it that we spend more time with each other as well... If... If that is not too much to ask..."

"Zalbag.. I'm always here. I mean, I know sometimes I have weird hours with the whole resident advisor deal. But, you can just contact me and I'll try to come back to my room at least."

"I understand..." Then again, Zalbag isn't beyond surprise visits. He would keep in mind to make them as time goes on. But for now... "I... would request to make my slumber by your side... lest you are opposed to it, Lord Edge..." It was really late, and Zalbag was sure that Edge was getting tired.
