Characters: Albel Nox, Zelda
Date: 02/12 - Evening; Prior to Shadows
Summary: Zelda is growing acquainted with Aegean's town and Albel happens upon her. He may be even worse than what comes out after curfew.
Warnings: None

Whatever was in the air, Albel was not going to allow it to take over his thinking and get him in that moody contemplative crap again. He wanted to hear nothing of it. Nothing about Rinoa. Please no. He already let her influence his dreams/nightmares. He won't allow it to come into his waking hours as well. He kept his feet moving to keep his mind from wandering off on its own. He didn't care where he went as long as he was keeping his mind preoccupied with any new sights and sounds that he so happened to come across.

Barracks. That was what the young man on her journal had called them. And she was using the word 'journal' in a loose term. She didn't really know what a journal was. Not the way that it was spoken of in the institute. Once she had settled into her empty room, she organized herself, reminded herself of priorities for the following day, and chose to get to know the area. That was always the first point to examine when arriving in a new area. This land was certainly different from Hyrule.

Zelda found herself in wonder over the garden that presided on the campus. At least there was some sort of decent type of landscape.

Albel allowed his feet to travel wherever they wanted and when he finally took notice of his surroundings, he found himself surrounded by the aroma of fresh flowers in the garden on campus. Not only that, but he wasn't the only one here. He turned and his eyes caught a figure somewhere in the dark. He wasn't exactly sure who it was, but while he was here, it was certainly wortht he investigation.

In nostalgia, Zelda had found herself. There were those she had at least heard of in the area, though she couldn't quite piece together how or why. It seemed more like some very odd dream that manifested itself into flesh. Perhaps she was simply homesick, though. Imagine that. She hadn't even been gone for a day before she felt this way. How would she last? After all, Hyrule needed her, didn't it?

Albel's footsteps caught her attention. She turned, paused for a moment, and in that very natural way, brought her hands to the skirts of her ornate gown and she curtsied, offering an incline of her head.

Judging from her attire and the intricacies of her dress, she must have been another princess. As if Aegean had enough royalty running around. Albel couldn't say that he liked nobility even before he heard all about the antics some of them took part in Ares.
Albel offered a sigh and in his attempt to be at least somewhat sociable said, "Strange to see someone else wandering in the middle of the night. And a royal fool at that."

His tone was harsh. It was the first thing she noticed about him. Not the strange apparel, not the rather odd hair that seemed to sprout all over his head, like some cross between a Goron and a Kokiri child. At his words, her gaze hardened, though it lasted for only a moment. Perhaps royalty wasn't looked upon highly in Aegean. That could be easily remedied, easily solved.

"Royalty is not held in high regard then?" she asked with that surprisingly polite tone, in spite of her companion's.

Appearances. How he hated the appearances that made life at the royal level seem so fake. Her tone of voice, despite his harsh words, was an excellent example of that.

"No. It's just the opposite. I just don't see them ever doing anything more than associating with other royalty."

Zelda regarded him quietly. He was... something else, wasn't he? She wasn't sure what to think or even of what to say. She just knew that he didn't have much in the way of social graces.

"I see... The royalty here seems to be interested in building alliances between fellow kingdoms. It is an understandable position and yet those who are not royalty are important as well. It is the wishes of the people that guide a leader to ruling with compassion and wisdom."

"Alliances? I wouldn't even use that excuse on the antics that they've gotten themselves into here," he scoffed. He didn't perceive the actions of the royalty in Ares or Aegean to be as dignified as she made them seem. "Though I have never seen you here nor anywhere else. I can't say that you'd act like them." At least...not yet.

She hadn't seen enough to make any judgements on the royalty. She didn't even know anyone in the town. Link must have felt the same way the first time he stepped into the castle market. She considered Hyrule to be a land of great peace and polite etiquette, something that clearly was missing here, which the way she was immediately titled as 'fool'. She would be the judge of that.

Zelda nodded toward him with a gracious smile, kind as it had been the moment he'd begun to speak, "How observant of you. I have only just arrived earlier today. I was acquainting myself with the environment before introducing myself to the inhabitants. I am Zelda, the princess of Hyrule." Well, princess-to-be-queen...

"Oh? Am I really the first person you've met here?" He smirked. The man came off as dangerous with his arrogant expressions and weapons at the ready, yet he seemed tame enough for the time being.. At the moment, he was caught up on the idea that he was giving the princess a first impression of what was to be expected here in Aegean. "Ex-general Albel Nox. Looks like we'll add another princess to the ranks."

She knew better than to base her opinions on the establishment itself solely upon the meeting of this one person. An individual did not speak for an entire world. Not even she spoke only for Hyrule. After all, even if she led its people, it was them as a collective that made Hyrule the place that it was. "You are the first I have officially met. Those who helped me with my things did exchange words with me, though not many, as was the same with the one who offered me my abode in my time here." Zelda curtsied to him once more. "Albel Nox. What a very unique name. Is... it a conflict that I am a princess, do you think?"

To the question, Albel answered with a scoff before he went on. "That depends entirely up to you. If anything, the worms here might treat you better based on your lineage. But, if you're a fool then you're just as equal a fool as any ordinary fool." Sometimes people tended to forget that, an idea that Albel loathed with a passion. A person had to prove their worth. It's nothing that could be assumed by lineage alone.

"A fool is a fool... is a fool," Zelda agreed. "It matters not the clothes upon your back, but rather the decisions and choices you make. Royalty should know better than to act foolish..." Not that she hadn't had her share of ridiculous antics when she was younger. There was a difference between being an adult and being a child, though some would say she was still the latter, and hardly the former.

Albel gave a derisive laugh though not necessarily directed at Princess Zelda. "It's refreshing to see at least one person shares that sentiment," he smirked. "But saying it is one thing. Acting on it is another matter altogether."

"I suppose then, that someone would need to worry if they were required to meet your standards, good sir," Zelda replied rather hastily. Royalty she was, but it hardly had to be said that she wouldn't fall in line behind anyone else.

"High standards for others. Higher standards for myself," he replied as he eyed the princess.

She nodded slowly and tilted her head to the side. That was understandable. She couldn't quite find a way to glance past it either, or banter, or anything else of that nature. "A typical response. An anticipated one, if you will."

"I wouldn't be able to call anyone worms, fools, or maggots otherwise," he smirked. He probably pestered this princess enough. Ah well. It was interesting while it lasted. "Whatever. Do what you will what you've in Aegean, fool. Just watch out for the full moon."

Worms, fools, and maggots. He had an interesting way of addressing others. A superiority complex, Zelda assumed. She spoke rather matter-of-fact when he mentioned the moon. "I know." She had known upon her arrival, and even on her first night when she had gone out under the guise of her alter ego. It was simply that vibration she had. "Thank you, Sir."

Albel thought that she had a magical presence about her. A powerful one at that. There was...much more to this princess than just a pretty face and ornate face. "Of nothing, fool." With that, he left for parts unknown. Would he ever meet this person again? Hm. More than likely not. Unlikely that she would ever seek him for anything. Who would?
