Wow.
First of all, it must be said that Ralph Finnes effing pwned that movie. Holy Shit, dude, he was badass.
I think Fred deserved better. His death in the book kills me every time. Sucks to have him die off screen.
Likewise, Hagrid's reaction to the news that Harry is dead, and his sobs as he carries his body back to Hogwarts are so wrenching. That needed more.
I missed Harry's reaction to R&H's kiss "Now, of all times?"
That wasn't no nineteen year's worth of age makeup.
Apart from that, wow.
I loved how they conveyed the Harry/Voldemort connection visually, especially when Voldie realizes that Harry's been destroying horcruxes. I loved Snape's memories. I loved the dragon. I loved King's Cross (even if Harry wasn't naked). I loved the battle of Hogwarts and the complete destruction of everything recognizable. I loved the hordes of villains. I loved Alan Rickman to bits; fanbloodytastic. I loved McGonnagal and Neville and Luna (and NevilleandLuna!) and Ron and Hermione. I joined in the rousing ovation for Molly. I loved Harry-- Daniel really outdid himself in this film. Epic epic epic. I loved Voldemort's death-- husband thought it should have been more explosive, but I thought it conveyed perfectly that he had destroyed all of his soul and so was nothing but a dried out husk of a shell of a man. And did I mention that Ralph Finnes is a fucking epic badass?
But most of all what I love is that this movie made me want to rush home, open up Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, and start all over again and meet eleven year old Harry again, and watch him become this brave and wonderful man. And I can do that. And so I shall.
Thank you, Jo, for your world and your imagination and your story that never ends.
To quote another favorite movie (Big Fish): "Our stories live on after us; in that way, we become immortal."
