My mom writes at 1:20 this morning:
I only meant to read one more chapter in The Oracle's Queen, but I finished the last several of the book!! I can't wait to get to Aeditimi's so I can get the next installments!! I love this author! she is fantastic and I love her style and the richness of her work!!
Hehe. I think authors should be required to put 'point of no return' warnings on the chapters in which the climax of the novel begins. As in, "If you stop now, you might go to bed tonight. If you turn the page, you're committed for another 100 pages." Rowling's is built-in. Since Prisoner of Azkaban I've realized that (almost to the exact number) the last hundred pages of her books are impossible to put down. Reading them aloud to Praeceptor, I tell him before the crucial chapter that we have reached the point of no return. In DH, you can stop when Neville comes through the portrait. Turn the page, and it ain't over till the fat lady whistle of the Hogwarts Express sings.
The "problem" with
otterdance's books is, I don't know that she could ever give fair warning. I am incapable of putting down Stalking Darkness from the moment a certain someone enters the Cockerel. Yeah, that's page 294. That's a mere 206 pages from the end. Good luck, ma.
