Best. day. ever.

Double pieces of good news today! Finally, a little turn of the tides for us.

Praeceptor received a job offer today from a school district about 20-30 minutes away. We're very excited and the offer is good, but he thinks he might actually like to take the job that's about 40 minutes away, which he expects an offer on very soon. So we'll take some time to mull it over and maybe have a choice to make. Either way that's good news!

I got a call this morning, and as of today, I am no longer on the waiting list for the mission trip to Ecuador this summer. A person backed out, and I can take their place! I'll be going to Ecuador for ten days in August, living with a family (one of six families who will be on the receiving end of the new houses we're building, so I'll be roughing it quite a lot), and helping build houses and continue work on a community center started several years ago. I have been hoping that I could go on this trip--I missed the deadline for registration, and so I was placed on the waiting list. I acted as if I would be going, though, planning to take those days off in August, saving the money for the expenses and spending, buying supplies and packing a lot of stuff in a big duffel bag, so I was ready for the call. I spent the afternoon (between giggles and happiness) on the phone with my doctor and the travel clinic, making sure that I could get all the necessary vaccines in time for the trip. Tonight I talked to my mom's friend C, who has gone on the trip twice before and is going again with me this year.

I'm super excited to go on this trip! I have to do a mission trip for my ordination candidacy, and I've been hoping I could go to Ecuador since C first told me about it a couple of years ago. This sounds like it will be a lot of fun--well, maybe fun's the wrong word--very challenging and exciting and rewarding. This is definitely way outside the confines of what I've done before.

i'll need a crash course in Spanish pronunciation; right now I keep speaking Spanish words with a French accent. And I need to make and file a will before I get on a plane. Hey, that's two goals at once, really.

x goal- mission trip, husband, money, x goal- will, ecuador, happy thoughts
