Is it just me or do birthdays feel more and more like any other day the higher the number gets? Special years like forty or fifty excepted, of course. I'm twenty-one as of Wednesday, but for all my mother's insistence that this is a highly important birthday, I don't feel it. Perhaps because many of the "landmarks" of such a birthday don't really

Oh, and I loved this part:
"Hm," Godric said with a mischievous smile. "Like you were willing to trade-"
This wouldn't happen to be the same trade that you mentioned the other day with that Piaras Larkin guy would it? I have a feeling there's more to him than first appears there! The fact that Rowena got so flustered about him makes me want to know! (Rowena, flustered about something? Got to be a good story!)
And I love Godric's trying to cheer Salazar up, and how well it works. I just plain love their friendship. The fact that he doesn't particularly care if he wins the duel, because in cheering Salazary up he has already won would give me warm fluffies if we were talking about other people. haha... (Somehow, no matter how much I enjoy Godric and Salazar, I have the feeling they'd be absolutely mortified if they had any part in warm fluffy feelings)
And your comment at the end there about Godric's pitying the prisoner has me searching back in the story to see what exactly did happen that morning, trying to figure out who won the duel. I do notice that Salazar has Veritaserum, but then again that wouldn't be a result from this as it takes a month to make.
Oh, and yes, that does help me hold on for a little longer. I shall do my darndest to make it last more than a week this time! Maybe two tops :D

Ah, Piaras Larkin. Yes, this story did come to you right after that cookie with him, didn't it? It could've used a bit more space between the two, but you're correct. There's definitely more going on with him. What you saw in the cookie was the writing equivalent of "planting the seed," that is, setting up the potential of future tales with a few mentions of a person or incident. Salazar and Godric always get all of the plot threads, I thought it was Rowena's turn to get something. (Poor Helga, I'll have to find something for her. Aside from teasing Rowena mercilessly. ;) )
The dynamic between Godric and Salazar is one of my favorite things to write. Hah, I think that Godric wouldn't mind about the warm fuzzies, if it meant he could see the mortified look on Salazar's face.
There are clues in Nullifier (and Pieces of Life #2) that point either way as to who might have won the duel. I didn't plan it that way, but I can't say I mind. I'll see about slipping something into Nullifier later on to hint at who the victor was.
The short story will definitely start being posted within two weeks, so I wouldn't be too worried. :)

But back to my original reason for leaving this comment... I went and read the Pieces of Life #2, and you're right! They do give nice conflicting messages... Oh well, maybe it was a tie and they both had to pay up... *shrugs* And I am definitely excited for this short story! WITHIN two weeks you say? I'll hold you to that!!
(See? ^ This was meant to be short! Honest!)

Hah, that's right! Little nudges (or big nudges as the case may be...) are for motivating you to work fast!
Cut things out? Oh no! We're losing part of it now! I suppose I shall have to entrust that your editing skills will give us as good as a piece as ever (as if there's any doubt!)
I don't suppose it'd be possible to get the story by Wednesday? I'm leaving early Thursday for the weekend and will probably not be able to get on the internet. If that's not possible, then a cookie would be luverly!!!
