like a vespa. a moped. scooter. it's one of these guys (pic is from the internet though):
A Schwinn Graduate. It's my mother's but she let me ride it (pretty fun). little thing is supposed to get 117mpg. it's only 2 horsepower, though, so it's not a car replacement, but for short rides into the town center or something, it's perfect. my mom's going to take it to work, i guess.
if i end up staying in LA for a while, i might have to get one. they're under $1500, and the gas mileage is insane. and you don't need a special license to drive the little ones like this.
note to humans: the gas is running out, it's not going to get any cheaper. you may laugh at the little scooter now, but soon you all will want one because you aren't going to be able to afford to drive anything else.
course, a scooter couldn't take me across the country. cars mean freedom, in that way. though public transit will get you between major cities....it's not the same as driving somewhere yourself. but as the gas prices go up, that's going to become more and more of a luxury. one i might not be able to justify, eventually. we shall see what the city does to me.
