This is absolutely beautiful, Aearwen. Elara's discovery of the heart beat of the forest and the interconnectedness of all living things is stunning. The Elves were bound to Arda and I really think they experienced the world the way you describe it here.
And wow. You think I can write UST? This is going to be an awfully big elephant in the room. It'll be interesting to see how they deal with it.
Thanks. I just couldn't imagine an elf helping a mortal get closer to nature without it being a truly magical experience - with interesting collateral advantages along the way.
And yes, the UST does get another boost in the next tale in this series. These two were determined that their tale get told - and pushed their way through to my Muse and kidnapped her mercilessly for a while.
One of the aspects of your writing that I really enjoy is the attention to detail and the inclusion of customs like the fruit wine that is made specifically for the mid year's feast. These add depth to the setting. There is a wider world out there and it is intriguing to learn about it as Elara does.
