I know I haven't been exactly active in here for a while, but I am still upright, moving and pulling air. And today, albeit in a much diminished form, I will celebrate Thanksgiving with my oldest daughter, her fiance, and my son. We're thankful today for the fact that my older daughter Sul has been able to resume working after having been prevented from doing so for a total of nearly six months this year, closing down only eight weeks or so after having opened her own, private, one-person manicuring shop. It was hard on her - and made harder because she suffers from Adrenal Fatigue, which means that any stress at all can be pretty debilitating - but having her fiance with her helped make life bearable.
I'm thankful that both my brother and his wife contracted, and then recovered from, the bloody virus (sorry, Linda, I know that's a bad word where you live.) Then again, both of them are considered "essential workers" in Arizona, and so were more at risk. After the first shut-down there eased, both of their employers made necessary adjustments to help make things safer; and while I still worry about them relapsing, I feel a little better. Unfortunately, I heard today that they're going to be playing host to a houseful later today - and I'm not really thrilled about that. But SiL has a huge family - so having ONLY 5 - 6 of them over for turkey and ham and fixings, I guess, is better than the 20+ it would be if they ALL landed on her...
I'm thankful for the phone app that makes it possible for me to keep in contact with my dear friend Zina in Moscow - I could technically even call her up, if I knew the time difference and/or her schedule. We make do with text messages, and it gives us both the opportunity to practice reading & writing in the other's language, lemme tell ya!! I'm thankful for that activity that helps keep my mind sharp. My more local Russian friend also finds it nice to be able to text me with that app - or call on a phone app that doesn't require her to buy minutes for her pre-paid phone. Zina, bless her, found the app and convinced us to install it; and it has been a GREAT help to all of us.
Most of all...
I'm thankful for all my friends, both here and abroad - and hope that all of them stay healthy and safe. Happy Thanksgiving to all!! Feliz Dia de Dar Gracias a todos!! С Днем Благодения всех!!!
