Yixing is more than a little tipsy by the time he reaches the front door. For a moment, he leans against the wall, trying to focus his vision. Doing so also focuses his mind, and with renewed vigor, he starts banging on the front door.
A moment later, the door swings open, and Yixing always falls over onto his face.
“Woah, Xing, are you okay?” Kris asks, shocked. He reaches out a hand to steady the smaller man and pull him into the apartment.
Yixing is not there for small talk. “Is it true?” he demands, at once. “I could hardly believe it when I first heard the news today. Lu Han told me that - that - you’re leaving for Canada and - and - getting married?”
Kris is silent, face stony.
“I see that it’s true from the look on your face.” And now, Yixing is angry. “So tell me about it, Wu Yifan. Tell me about the plans that you’re making; tell me about the girl who’s swept your heart away. Then tell me one more thing before I go.”
“Yixing,” Kris interrupts, holding up a hand. “I - ”
“Tell me, what am I supposed to do?” Yixing yells, giving Kris a drunken shove. “How am I supposed to live without you? How can you just leave me here to carry on like nothing is wrong?”
“Yixing - ”
“Lu Han said that you told your mother we were ‘just friends.’ Is that all? After a year of - of us, we’re still ‘just friends’ to your family?”
“Yixing, listen to me,” Kris finally interrupts for a third and successful time. He wraps his arms around his struggling lover and holds him close. “How am I supposed to leave you when I built my world around you?”
“What - ” This time, is it Yixing’s turn to be cut off.
“Everything Lu Han said was true, but I realized right after what a huge mistake I had just made by agreeing to marry some girl in Canada just because my parents wanted me to. I already called my mother and told her that I won’t be going, and tomorrow, I want you to go with me to meet her.”
“Meet her?” Yixing repeats, ceasing his struggles.
“I want my boyfriend to meet my mother, yes,” Kris sighs, finally loosening his hold on Yixing. He leans down, and drops a kiss onto Yixing’s cheek. “I really hope you’re sober enough to remember this tomorrow morning,” he mutters into Yixing’s ear. “The better question should have been how am I supposed to live without you, Zhang Yixing, when you’re my everything.”
