Hello, I'm saw this community on the front page and thought I would ask for some advice, if that is alright.

Cut for less exposure to my whining... (: )

I'd say it's still early days. Everyone in college is just starting to find their feet, and I'm sure that there are others who feel exactly same way as you.

I know I felt like this (though its over 20 years since I went to college), but I was stupid enough to drop out over it, and have regretted it since (not at first, but certainly since starting a family).

You know what might be good for you to try? You're in college, with new people and new situations... ACT like you're a confident person, front it out, it'll be hard - but they won't know that that's not the real you, maybe in time it will start to be second nature to you.

Maybe choose to join clubs were talking isn't so important... film club, camera club? The key is to push your boundaries - get out there, do something different, feel fear and do it anyway (I just through that old cliche in there for the fun of it, I'm sorry).

Do you have a student services or student counsellor in your college? Could you speak to them - they're neutral, don't know you and so are less likely to 'judge' you.

I wish you luck with this, I know how hard it is from first hand experience, and even now at my ripe old age I have the same kind of anxiety when put in new situations, but have become better at handling it as I've become older.
