Help! College grad needs advice

I just graduated from UCSD with a degree in political science and I am supposed to leave tomorrow for a paid internship in Washington D.C., the problem is I don't know if I should go or not. The reason I am so apprehensive is the internship pays $1,000 a month and because most of the housing is around $900 a month I can't afford to go. I had to take out a loan to cover the rest of the costs. The plane ticket alone is costing me $600, and I don't officially have a place to stay so I will be sleeping on a friends floor until I find something.

the pros: of me going are, it's a chance to work this summer, have something to put on my resume, make connections, see D.C. (I'm from Cali and have never been to the east coast) I made a commitment and they are expecting me, and I told all my friends I was going.

The cons are: it's putting me in debt, I have no place to stay, I am a small girl and D.C. is not very safe from what I've heard, my parents aren't supportive and can't afford to help me, I won't have any bedding and hardly any clothes because I can only bring one suitcase to avoid being charged more.

So should I go or not?
