I generally don't do the typical "New Year's Resolution" thing, but I do tend to set goals. Those that know me well know that the last couple of months have been pretty out of control for me. My goal for next year is to recenter myself, and gain some semblance of the life I want to be living. But then we all set that goal, don't we?
In 2009, I will...
- Make a point to do something (hiking, backpacking, kayaking, climbing) every weekend.
- Reorganize my retirement accounts.
- Host a Yule dinner.
- Run no more than 35 miles per week, and no less than 15.
- Make a point to lift (even if it's only for 30 minutes) twice a week.
- Spend at least two hours per week on my own, with no obligations, not exercising nor cleaning nor fixing anything. Two hours to read or knit or just sit and drink coffee.
- Increase my savings. (did this, spent it on the bathroom... need to do this again.)
- Get my hair cut every two months (at least).
- Get some decently fitting clothes. (Not a lot, but enough so I am comfortable, and am not caught pulling up my saggy pants.) Be okay with spending a couple of hundred dollars on that.
- Be a little nicer to myself.
- Get rid of all the chemical products in my house.
- Remodel the upstairs bathroom (but hire out the shower).
- Remodel the kitchen.
- Replace the carpet with hardwood floors (provided it is not cost prohibitive).
- Eat decently and regularly.
- Understand that I may not have all of the answers all the time, and maybe it isn't my responsibility to find them.
I will try to revisit this fairly regularly to assess any progress I am or am not making. That may be boring for you... I'll apologize in advance, and if you would like, I can either create a filter, or encourage you to scroll onward.
